Fortine is a non-descript town located on U.S. Highway 93 12 miles south of Eureka. Also located near the Idaho and Canadian borders, Fortine is a great stepping stone into the beautiful state of Montana.
It began as a station on the Great Northern Rail line and in 2004 had a population of only 1,023 people. The Kootenai National Forest and Lake Koocanusa both create the perfect atmosphere for the outdoor enthusiast. When you're looking to escape to a place that has a greater population of trees and fish than people, Fortine is the perfect paradise.
